Japanese Language & Culture
Japanese Language & Culture
Learning a language opens hearts; knowing a culture helps us see people.
Japan Philippi Mission raises up people who understand and love Japan by learning the Japanese language and culture together.
About
Japanese language education and Japanese culture ministry are one of the pillars of Japan Philippi Mission's journey. Through Japanese conversation, praise, Bible reading, cultural experiences and education, we learn the language and everyday life of the Japanese people, and prepare to pray and work together with churches and missionaries in Japan.
We meet both at church and online (Zoom).
Purpose
A heart that understands Japan
By learning the language and culture, we draw one step closer to the hearts of the Japanese people.
Worship in Japanese
We praise and read the Bible in Japanese, worshiping in the same language as believers in Japan.
Partners in mission
We are prepared to serve alongside Japanese churches on vision trips and in everyday mission.
Programs

Japanese Conversation Class
We practice everyday Japanese conversation together. Meeting online (Zoom), we talk directly with Japanese speakers and build our listening and speaking skills.

Praise Class
We learn and sing praise songs in Japanese. Singing along with the lyrics, we pick up pronunciation and expressions, and offer praise in Japanese at worship services and special events.
Special praise in Japanese, December 22, 2024

Bible Class
We read and share the Bible in Japanese. Reading familiar passages again in Japanese, we grow in both language and faith.

Japanese Culture Experience
We experience everyday Japanese culture firsthand, such as the tea ceremony (chado) and wearing yukata. Through Japanese culture performances, we also come to feel the sensibility and beauty of Japan.

Education
We learn about Japan's history and culture, and the realities of the church and mission in Japan. Serving begins with understanding Japan rightly.
